P.C. Vicky Hagen arrived at Sun Hill under a cloud, having helped put away a fellow officer who had assaulted a prisoner. She transferred from the nick in Essex
because of the whole affair and was keen to get a fresh start at the station. However, P.C.Jarvis knew the officer in question and spread it around the station that she had grassed up an innocent colleague. To make matters worse, they were paired up together in the area car and bickered constantly; at one point Jarvis loudly insulted her over the airwaves. He backed down once he learned that his mate had actually assaulted a handcuffed minor.
A qualified area car driver, Vicky was tough, straightforward and took no nonsense. She made it very clear that being Sun Hill’s first female area car driver did not overawe her. Sex was simply not an issue - she'd work and fit in equally happily with men or women. Since she was attractive, feminine and above all funny - and quite able to drink the boys under the table - she eventually fitted in despite earlier reservations, although her abrasive and seemingly arrogant approach occasionally alienated colleagues. Vicky could often make strong judgements on other people though, particularly women - not because she felt threatened - but because she wanted them to behave like she did.
A thinly disguised man-eater, Hagen fell for the dubious charms of Eddie Santini, and was humiliated when she finally discovered the truth about him. She later moved on to Matt Boyden. When it became clear that Boyden put his troubled daughter before her, Hagen finally demonstrated signs of vulnerability. On the rebound, she picked up a guy for a one-night stand, only for him to commit suicide in the bath. This was the final straw for Vicky, who decided in the circumstances to leave the Met and request a transfer to one of the county services.
Her speciality is that she is a Class I Driver.
