'''PC Nate Roberts''' arrived at [[Sun Hill Police Station|Sun Hill]] [[Collateral Damage (2007)|18 October 2007]]. A friendly and approachable man, Nate has a roving eye for the ladies and certainly isn't lacking in self-confidence. Nate is upfront about playing the field and as a result has little interest in a relationship. However, occasionally he can be over-attracted to someone and he has been known to slip up when too keen. Overall, Nate is popular and a real people person, though not much is known about his personal life. He stayed on as Deansgate School's Safer Schools Officer after his senior officer [[Sergeant]] [[Dale Smith]] [[Back To School|was stabbed by teenagers]]. While doing so, he grew closer to a teacher at the school despite being reluctant to pursue another relationship. When she was found assaulted, Nate was determined to find the person responsible and cracked a sexual abuse case involving a pupil from the school. Nate wanted to make a go of things with her, but she was too focused on her career and ended their brief relationship. Nate got a shock when colleague [[Beth Green]] made [[Leap of Faith - Part 2|a move on him on her last day]], walking in on him whilst he was changing. Beth told him she fancied him and wanted to be with him, but just as he was about to admit his feelings, Beth told him she was setting him up, having been goaded into doing it as a joke by Mel Ryder and Millie Brown. Nate also had crush on DI [[Samantha Nixon]], which [[Leon Taylor]] relished in telling her.

Nate's actor [[Richards, Ben|Ben Richards]] was the only cast member not in the final episode [[Respect: Part 2|Respect]]. His last on screen appearance was [[Death Knock]], however his character did not transfer to another station, resign or get killed, so it can be assumed he stayed at Sun Hill when the show ended.

He was named after Bill writer Sarah-Louise Hawkins' son Nate, who also "arrived on the scene" in 2007.
