Stuart Lamont was a character in The Bill from 1989 until 2001.

Profile[]

A Sergeant on one of the other reliefs, his character usually appeared when 'A' Relief were off duty, typically working in the Custody Area or in the CAD Room. Stuart first appeared in the episode "Seen To Be Done" when he relieved Sgt. Tom Penny from his duties as Custody Sergeant. He had a dry sense of humour and had a good friendship with Sgt. Bob Cryer.

In 1993, he applied for the job of Youth and Community Staff Sergeant but lost out to Sgt. Jane Kendall after a disappointing interview.

After over 50 semi-regular appearances over a 12 year period, he is last seen making a rare appearance outside of the station, handing over a crime scene to Liz Rawton in the episode "Shout".

In 2018, actor Steve Morley recorded a two-part interview for The Bill Podcast sharing his memories of playing Sgt. Lamont.

Family[]

  • When speaking to Sgt. Matt Boyden about the job of the Youth and Community Staff Sergeant, it has been implied that Stuart has kids but he only sees them once a month which could mean that he is divorced.
