Jeff Golding was a Metropolitan Police Officer serving as Chief Superintendent of Stafford Row police station between 1997 and 1998.
Golding raised a number of eyebrows by engaging in a relationship with W.P.C. Louise Golding with whom he later married in 1997. Despite their age gap, they had a happy marriage living in the Sun Hill area. Louise left the force that same year when her husband was forced to reprimand her, although he later admitted to Ch. Supt. Charles Brownlow that he was happy she had left the force.
Golding was well known as having the highest transfer rate in the Met and to not giving a second chance to anyone.
In February 1998, Golding visited Sun Hill prior to an Area meeting and met with Brownlow to discuss his wife's stolen petrol cap. Ch. Insp. Derek Conway was assigned to look after Golding. He later gave Conway the slip and inspected Sun Hill, later claiming it was in a poor state.
During the meeting, Golding was contacted by his wife and informed that her car had been stolen whilst under surveillance by Sun Hill officers causing Golding to blindside Brownlow with the news of his team's failure.
Following the meeting, Brownlow was pleased to inform Golding that his wife's car had been recovered but on return to Sun Hill it wa clear the vehicle has not come out of it unscathed, much to the shock of Golding. (Friends in High Places)
In August of the same year, Golding attended an OCU Commanders Meetings about 'Crime Hotspots' with Brownlow. He informed the other attendees that he needed funding so he could send in TSG to "kick the troublemakers out". (King of the Road)
Golding was played by Sherlock Holmes star David Burke in both appearances.
The spelling of his first name was not confirmed in either appearance so its spelling here is conjecture.
