Garfield revealed that Boyden was with him in Elcot Lane together and that he had something to see to and that they would see each other later. Garfield was on his own until he saw a burglar run out of a garden and got hold of the suspect but got beaten up. George told June that Boyden was around the corner when it happened. Inspector Monroe later learned from Mrs Welland that Matt was in her place and learned that he was lied to.

George went out on the beat but appeared to not be answering his radio. He later went off watch. Boyden later confronted him via radio and told him to stop being a "berk" and get to Nelson Court.
