Dr Fergus Gallagher was a forensic scientist who in 2003 assisted the Murder Investigation Team headed up by D.I. Vivien Friend with their cases.
Notes[]
Fergus Gallagher was played by actor Vincenzo Pellegrino for all eight episodes of the first series of The Bill spin off Murder Investigation Team. He did not return for the second series with no reason given for his departure. A replacement forensic scientist made a single appearance in the fourth episode of the last series.
Apart from his playful banter with D.I. Vivien Friend and D.C. Rosie McManus, nothing is known of the character's background during the series. The (now defunct) website for the series www.murderinvestigationteam.com gave the following profile for the character:
Fergus is your regular off-beat forensic scientist. The majority of his time is spent peering down one end of a microscope at the tiniest scrap of evidence, blood, DNA, hair, paint or glass. It's his job to help prioritise lines of enquiry as well as indicating whether the murder at hand could be linked to another. Behind closed doors he's probably a bit pissed off that Viv is on the frontline receiving high praise while he's kept behind closed doors holding the stool sample.
