D.S. Roach is at the hospital seeing the 82 year old victim of a mugging. Her son is an ex-copper. It turns out that the son snapped and hit his mother. The abuse has been going on for a while.
A girl is trapped down a pipe and P.C. Quinnan is cross with spectators who are hampering the rescue effort.
