Trivia[]
- The robbery depicted in the episode was loosely inspired by the Baker Street Bank Robbery that took place at the Lloyd's Bank on the intersection of Baker Street and Marylebone Road on the night of the 11th September 1971. Like in the episode, the robbers purchased a lease for a disused leather goods store called Le Sac two doors from the bank and begun digging a tunnel from the basement of Le Sac on the Friday evening of the 1971 August Bank Holiday, under floors of the Chick Inn takeaway restaurant and reaching into the basement of the bank on the 10th September. Over 268 safety deposit boxes were plundered in the robbery, netting the robbers £3 million (£33.1 million in today's value) in cash and other valuables.
- The Bank Street Robbery served as the subject of the 2008 British-Australian American heist thriller film, The Bank Job, starring Jason Statham. The film explored one of the rumors surrounding the robbery, that the robbery was set up by MI5 to get some scandalized photos of Princess Margaret that was hidden in a safety deposit box owned by known radical, Michael X.
