Breakout is the 396th episode of The Bill.

It's New Year's Eve. A learner driver backs into a prison van, allowing a dangerous prisoner to escape from custody. It's believed he may go after a witness, so WPC Ackland stays with her, but all is not what it seems.

PCs Hollis and Stringer arrest a man on behalf of South Yorkshire Police. DC Carver has to accompany the man on the train to Sheffield.
