P.C. Stamp faces a disciplinary hearing following the death of a pedestrian. P.C. Garfield has to persuade him not to give in.
Ch. Insp. Conway and D.S. Beech attend a ceremony where they receive their "Long Service and Good Conduct" medals. An old friend of Beech is facing a C.I.B. investigation, which Beech is anxious to get to the bottom of. Conway's wife is unable to keep her contempt for Ch. Supt. Brownlow to herself.
