It is an emotional day at the station: a sense of sadness hangs in the air as Superintendent Adam Okaro is packing to leave for the position of the Borough Commander the next day. The countdown until the arrival of new Super is on...

Sergeant June Ackland and PC Leela Kapoor find a 13-year-old girl unconscious in her home and they are shocked to discover the remnants of heroin use in her brother’s bedroom. DC Zain Nadir and Sergeant Dale Smith are called upon to search for the supplier of the drugs.

While Smithy finds the victim’s brother on the running track, Zain is left dealing with the uncompromising mother Elaine Wallace (guest star Denise Welch) who in her hysteria does her best to jeopardise his efforts.

As the case around the overdose victim hots up, DS Phil Hunter and the team run a smooth undercover operation in the local park, arresting some of the drug dealer’s gang. Meanwhile, Zain is called out to the hospital once more, and this time it is about the victim’s brother…

Elsewhere, troubled PC Roger Valentine has a new blow to contend with: his wife is now filing for divorce, making it harder for him to convince Inspector Gina Gold that he can cope and all is fine.

Claiming that his work now remains as his sole pillar of support, Roger and PC Lewis Hardy start their day arresting two divers in the local pool, about a domestic dispute. But a later instalment of this case gets Roger and Leela into a car chase with dire consequences: Roger is clearly not as in control as he insists...

In the pub that night, the team comes together to bid a warm farewell to ex-Super Adam. All attention is on him – a good thing, because independently of one another, neither Roger nor Zain would like it if people saw that they can’t get into the party mood.
