Episode 100 of the Bill, Series 19: "Under the Thumb"
Sgt Boyden investigates an abandoned lorry. One of the owners of the lorry is found shot, with disfiguring marks cut into the skin of his abdomen. Sgt Boyden finds himself looking down the wrong end of a shotgun, but the gunman escapes. It is later discovered that the lorry was used in the smuggling of illegal immigrants into the UK, by a Chinese "Snake Head" gang. DI Nixon is investigating, and reluctantly finds herself forced to work closely with Sgt Boyden, including sitting in a car staking out one of the suspected gang members. They arrest one of the gang members who reluctantly gives them information. They question the injured lorry owner, who - knowing he is dying - gives them the name of the gang leader, who is arrested. The lorry owner dies and the gang leader is charged with murder.
Meanwhile Des Taviner is given a new assignment as a Ward Officer on the Cole Lane Estate, much to his annoyance. He is complaining of his lot to Sgt Murphy, when an attractive resident from the estate arrives to seek his assistance with a noisy neighbour. The obnoxious neighbour has reported his neighbours for racial harassment because they ask him to turn his music down. DI Glaze wastes no time in telling the neighbour what he thinks of his report. Des Taviner concocts a plan to sort out the noisy neighbour and to impress the attractive resident, by telling him that kids are vandalising his car. Whilst the neighbour is at his car, his stereo is thrown over the balcony and smashed.
A kid in an orange jacket is riding round the estate terrorizing residents. After knocking over a pregnant lady, he is caught. It turns out that he is the attractive resident's son and they are on the brink of being evicted from the estate. Des Taviner steps in to help...
Meanwhile PC Kerry Young and DS Debbie McAllister have their hands full preparing two young girls to testify in court over the gang rape of one of the girls.
