Sharpe returns to work as she determines to find her daughter Joanna, but Meadows and Nixon are insistent she has to kept clear from the investigation into a prison officer suspected of being a paedophile. Meadows is horrified when his old friend Howard Sinclair is implicated, with CID fearing there is a paedophile ring operating in the area, with time at its worse due to Joanna’s disappearance. Gold tells the relief that Gilmore won’t be returning after his assault, so Sergeant Sheelagh Murphy is drafted in from another station, however she hits the ground running instead of getting settled, so Gold encourages her to take the post full time. Meanwhile, Ackland and Taviner investigate a domestic that escalates when it appears the husband may be a suspect for attempted murder, and Ackland is impressed when Taviner alerts her to Carver, who has fallen off the wagon due to the pressures of being Sharpe’s FLO.
