PC Emma Keane was a character in The Bill between 2006 and 2008.
Emma rubbed a few people up the wrong way, but she had a good heart and the makings of an excellent copper. She was best friends with Sally, a fellow PC, and a relationship with Sergeant Stone had the potential for becoming more than just professional. However, her life and future was stolen from her on the 1st May 2008; she was involved in an evacuation that went wrong - she got everyone out, but at the last minute a terrorist bomb went off before she had the chance to escape. She was found by Sally and Callum who desperately tried to resuscitate her, but to no avail.
Emma had a disastrous relationship with Sun Hill's CPS Lawyer Matt Hinckley. They married in the autumn of 2006, but Emma soon realized Matt was an abusive control freak. After she confessed to Matt that she slept with Will when he engaged, and Matt has Will beaten up. The relationship ended when Emma decided to leave after discovering that Matt's ex Nina Lloyd wasn't killed. Matt attacked Emma who retaliated by hitting him over the head with a vodka bottle. He tried to have her jailed for attempted murder but Will convinced Nina to wear a wire and set Matt up for deception and perverting the course of justice.
