List of Appearances

Detective Inspector Deakin joined Sun Hill's CID when he was thrown out of the Flying Squad and forced to suffer the indignity of being disciplined by demotion because of his affair with a senior officer's wife. The rumours were rife on his joining the station but this sandy-haired harmless looking chap didn't look as if he posed a threat to anyone. It soon became clear however that Deakin sought to resurrect his career at Sun Hill, but he found his path blocked by Sally Johnson. Never keen on women superiors, Deakin succeeded in undermining her and quickly stepped into her shoes when she left.

Deakin was adept and streetwise and had the confidence of a man who had done it all - he had nothing to prove. He presented a clean, quiet exterior which masked threat. If violence was needed, he'd use it, but he'd find the right time, the right place. He was a policeman of the old school and would never break the rules, though he was prepared to take chances if he thought he would get a result. Dedicated to his job, he was by no stretch of the imagination a 'bent' copper, but greatly resented the paperwork that tied up all the loose ends. An old fashioned thick-skinned copper, DCI Meadows had time for him and actively interceded when he was in the soup.

In the end, Deakin was forcibly transferred to another station for lack of supervision after DS Don Beech's corruption was uncovered by CIB. He was Replaced by DI Cullen
