In a police station, the Chief Inspector is second in command. As well as working in the police office, the Chief Inspector spends a lot of time meeting with people from the community, finding out what local people want from the Metropolitan Police Service.
Chief Inspector is the second highest rank within a station. Chief Inspectors run uniform, and Detective Chief Inspectors run CID. Sun Hill's last Chief Inspector, Derek Conway was killed in 2002 and wasn't replaced. Sun Hill's last DCI was Jack Meadows, who was promoted to Superintendent in 2009. He was not replaced.
