Russell Boulter was born 7 April, 1963 in Liverpool, Merseyside. He is a British actor who played DS John Boulton in The Bill from 1995 to 2000. He made an earlier appearance on the show as PC Trevor Gale in the 1992 episode A Blind Eye.

Boulter has also played Ryan Johnson in Casualty, Inspector Crossley in Heartbeat, Chris Cameron in Watching, Adrian Hamling in Judge John Deed and Martin Armstrong in Waking the Dead.
