PC Benjamin Gayle was brought up in a foster home, this was shown in Series 24 Episode 15 - Cover up. He was accused of beating up a suspect, Bob Harvey, following Bob Harvey beating up his son. Sgt. Callum Stone got him off the hook, and said it was because he reminded him of himself. Ben had a professional relationship with Sally Armstrong, who got drunk and smashed her car into someone else's car. Callum stone saved Ben and Sally's career and job but not Will Fletcher who had left their gang to join C.I.D.
Major Storylines[]
[1] - Ben joins Sun Hill and investigates an assault on a migrant worker with Will Fletcher.
[2] - Ben Gayle forms a relationship with a young boy Liam Harvey when his mother is arrested for stabbing her husband. Also Ben holds a personal grudge against Liam's father Bob.
[3] - Ben gets emotionally invested again with boy Liam Harvey who is found badly injured and then is hot water with the DPS after deliberately assaulting Liam's father Bob.
